Mr. Morgan has lectured extensively on a variety of health law, litigation and risk management topics. Mr. Morgan is a graduate of the University of Maryland Baltimore County and a 1981 graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in Maryland, the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Mr. Morgan has tried every variety of civil case at all levels of Maryland courts and his representative appellate cases include Alleco Inc. v. Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, Inc., 340 Md. 176, 665 A.2d 1038 Md. (1995) and Nationwide Mut. Ins. Co. v. Stroh, 314 Md. 176, 550 A.2d 373 Md. (1988). His clients include Carroll Hospital Center, The Doctors Company, The Medical Protective Company and OMS/NIC. Mr. Morgan has participated in the successful defense of many litigation matters. In Auerbach, he successfully defended a local obstetrician against a claim of negligent delivery resulting in significant and permanent brain damage before a jury in the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County, Maryland. In Cosey, Mr. Morgan successfully defended an Annapolis obstetrician against claims of permanent maternal injury as a result of a shoulder dystocia at birth. In Jednorski, a Baltimore County jury returned a verdict in favor of the obstetrician in charge of delivering a child with a shoulder dystocia presentation who suffered a permanent brachial plexus injury significantly impairing the use of her right arm. In Kiskis, a jury in the United States District Court in Baltimore returned a verdict in favor of the hospital that Mr. Morgan represented in a case involving permanent and significant nerve injury after administration of an epidural anesthesia. Mr. Morgan is admitted before the Supreme Court of the United States and is a member of the American Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar Association, the Baltimore City and County Bar Associations, the Defense Research Institute and the Maryland Society of Health Care Risk Managers. Mr. Morgan has participated in a variety of community activities including the Baltimore County High School Mock Trial Competition and service as a member and President of a local parochial school board. |
